High-res texture packs, by contrast, tend to jump out at the viewer and scream "we don't belong here". Minecraft is quite blocky naturally, but after a while you tend to not really think about it all that much because the default texture pack works so well with the shape of the game that things simply "flow". If I had to take a stab at interpreting Rawzer's observation, I'd say he's implying that high-res texture packs clash with Minecraft's low-res aesthetic. (#spoiler) = neat!
